The ASCP 40 Under Forty program recognizes members under the age of 40 for their achievements and leadership qualities that are making an impact on pathology and laboratory medicine. Forty pathologists, laboratory professionals and residents are chosen annually through an application or nomination process. The program has recognized worthy members of the laboratory team both nationally and internationally. From the 40 Under Forty honorees, five individuals are selected as the 40 Under Forty Top Five through a combination of public voting and committee selection.

He Sarina Yang, MBBS, PhD, DABCC (CC, TC), FAACC, received a Bachelor of Medicine degree from Peking University Health Science Center in China, and a PhD in Neuroscience from Northwestern University, in Chicago. Dr. Yang completed her fellowship training at the ComACC accredited clinical chemistry program at the University of California, San Francisco. After training, Dr. Yang served as the Scientific Director of Clinical Toxicology and Special Chemistry at Quest Diagnostics Nichols Institute of Valencia for 3.5 years. Currently, Dr. Yang is an Assistant Professor, Director of the Clinical Toxicology Laboratory, and Assistant Director of the Central Laboratory at the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, New York Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medicine. Dr. Yang is certified in both Clinical Chemistry and Toxicological Chemistry by the American Board of Clinical Chemistry (ABCC). Dr. Yang has a keen research interest on validating and implementing cutting-edge innovative diagnostic methods in the clinical laboratory, and applying machine learning to the analysis of clinical laboratory big data.
