The Division of Gastrointestinal and Liver Pathology at Weill Cornell provides comprehensive consultation services for patient care, research, and educational purposes. The Division annually processes nearly 15,000 biopsies of the gastrointestinal tract and liver, as well as surgical resections reflecting a wide spectrum of inflammatory and neoplastic diseases. Our subspecialty-trained gastrointestinal pathologists are widely sought for their expertise in the full range of digestive disorders, including Barrett's esophagus and colorectal cancer, as well as less common diseases of the liver, pancreas, and appendix.

The faculty members of the Division of Gastrointestinal and Liver Pathology are nationally and internationally recognized as expert diagnosticians, teachers, and leaders. They oversee the annual Tutorial on Pathology of the GI Tract, Pancreas, and Liver, which is a highly acclaimed post-graduate course. They also serve in leadership capacities for professional organizations such as the United States & Canadian Academy of Pathology and the Rodger C. Haggitt Gastrointestinal Pathology Society. The Division supports a highly competitive one-year Gastrointestinal Pathology Fellowship, which offers opportunities for clinical work, research, and education.
