Please join the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine in welcoming Dr. Rand to this senior leadership role.
Dr. Rand received his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Subsequently, he completed a year of residency training in Pathology at Montefiore Hospital, then relocated to Mount Sinai Hospital where he completed two years of residency training in Medicine. He returned to Montefiore Hospital to pursue a fellowship in Hematology, followed by post-doctoral training in a combined program offered by the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and the Mount Sinai Medical Center. He was appointed Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in 1981, was promoted to Associate Professor in 1988 and to Professor in 1994. He served as the Director, Thrombosis and Hemostasis Section of Hematology Division at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in 1999 and then was recruited to the Albert Einstein College of Medicine where he was appointed Professor of Pathology, with secondary appointments in the Department of Medicine and the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Women’s Health. While at Albert Einstein he served as Director of Hematology, Advanced Coagulation, and Protein Separation Laboratories. He currently maintains an Adjunct Professorship at Mount Sinai. Dr. Rand is internationally recognized for his clinical expertise and knowledge in hematology and coagulation and joins us as Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and Vice Chairman for Laboratory Medicine and Director of the Clinical Laboratories.
