Academic Cytopathologist

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine of the Weill Cornell Medicine is seeking an academic cytopathologist for full-time appointment at the Assistant or Associate level to join the current group of cytopathologists. The cytopathology team is composed of 5.5 FTE cytopathologists and nine cytotechnologists, headed by Dr. Momin Siddiqui. The service is a mixture of gynecological, non-gynecological and fine needle aspiration cytology with active interventional radiology, thoracic, gastrointestinal and thyroid services. Telecytology is available for assistance with rapid on site evaluation. There is a cytopathology fellowship with opportunity for participation in clinical and research activity.

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine supports research initiatives through its strong translational research program. Collaborations are available within the Department, as well as with faculty from other departments at Weill Cornell Medicine, Rockefeller University, and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. An active mentoring program assures growth in the academic environment at Weill Cornell.

The successful candidate will have completed a cytopathology fellowship and possess strong diagnostic skills needed for an academic cytopathology service. An interest in a subspeciality area of surgical pathology, in addition to cytopathology, can be supported A strong commitment towards advancement of knowledge in the field through research and education is equally important. Board certification in Anatomic Pathology and cytopathology is required as is eligibility for unrestricted medical licensure in the state of New York. Academic rank and compensation will be commensurate with level of experience and scholarly accomplishments.
