Associate Director of Cytogenetics

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine of Weill Cornell Medicine seeks a qualified PhD, MD, or MD/PhD for the role of Associate Director of Cytogenetics within the Division of Molecular Pathology.  The successful candidate will have an interest in translational research and a commitment to education including mentoring junior faculty and teaching residents and medical students.

The NewYork-Presbyterian Cytogenetics Laboratory is a 3000 square foot full-service laboratory providing constitutional, post-natal and cancer cytogenetics and in situ hybridization testing. The laboratory has two Cytogenetics faculty positions and 21 technical and administrative employees, including a Manager, Supervisor, and a Technical Specialist. The laboratory supports an active outreach service and performs over 14,000 tests per year.  The laboratory consistently has outstanding performance during regulatory and accreditation surveys.

The Division of Molecular Pathology also includes superb Molecular and Genomic Pathology Laboratories that provide ancillary diagnostic services. Clinical and basic research collaborations are available with faculty within the department, as well as with the Cancer Center and faculty from other Weill Cornell Medicine departments.

The ideal candidate for this position will be board-certified or board-eligible in Clinical Cytogenetics and Genomics.  Experience in clinical laboratory management, assay development, technical problem solving, laboratory information systems, interpretation of microarray, karyotyping and FISH testing, and clinical consultation are preferred. The successful applicant will contribute to medical student and resident training in Cytogenetics and Genomics. Scholarly study and investigation in the applicant's area of interest is expected. Candidate must hold or be eligible for New York State Certificate of Qualification in Cytogenetics.  Academic rank and compensation will be commensurate with the level of experience and scholarly accomplishments.
