Recent Resident Awards

  • Dr. Sophie Weidner, who served as our Chief Resident for 2014/2015, was the recipient of the Roger C. Haggitt Gastrointestinal Pathology Society’s 2015 Abstract Award for her abstract entitled: “Idelalisib Is a Novel Biologic Agent that Can Cause Severe Gastrointestinal Toxicity".

  • Dr. Michaela Nguyen was the recipient of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) 40 Under Forty award in 2015.

  • Dr. Robert DeSimone, who served as our Chief CP Resident in 2015 and 2016, was the recipient of the 2015 American Society of Hematology Abstract Achievement Award and the 2016 Best Abstract Award (Blood Banks Association of New York State). In 2017, he was also the recipient of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) 40 Under Forty award.

  • In 2017, Dr. Esther Cheng received the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) 40 Under Forty award.

  • Dr. Jordan Baum, who served as our Chief Resident for 2015/2016, was the recipient of the 2016 College of American Pathologists (CAP) Leadership Development Award.

  • Dr. Erika Hissong, our current Chief Resident, was the recipient of a 2017 Arthur Purdy Stout Society Award ($2,000 stipend).

  • Dr. Patrick McIntire was a finalist at the 2016 American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) Annual Meeting, Finalist in Best Scientific Poster Section.
